Dona Paula Beach

Breathtaking view, calm sunsets, and never-ending sea stretches are the specialities of Dona Paula Beach, Goa. The rocky surfaces and the cliff-top view make it a great tourist attraction. The beach is located on the southern tip of the headlands between the Zuari and Mandovi rivers. Only 7 kms from Panaji, it is the most frequently visited beach in Goa.

According to the local villagers, the governor’s daughter, Dona Paula de Menezes jumped off the cliff as her family refused her to unite with her lover. Owing to the legends, the beach is named in her memory. This myth makes Dona Paula a favourite romantic spot.

Water sports are a hot favourite of the tourists. An adrenaline rush with the calm wind of the beach attracts many. Parasailing, paragliding, water-skiing, wind-surfing are among the water sports that are famous on the Dona Paula. Correspondingly,beach-side stalls offer a variety of handicrafts such as straw-hats and trinkets. The cliff at Dona Paula presents a beautiful view of the Mormugao harbour. Additionally, the nearby tourist spots are the National Oceanography Institute, Salim Ali bird sanctuary and Cabo chapel which houses the tomb of  Dona Paula de Menezes. How to Reach
The nearest railway station is the Karmali station, situated at 14kms from the Dona Paula beach. Additionally, State government bus services are also available, and Panaji is the nearest bus station which is around 6kms from the beach.
